According to Optometry Australia research now suggests that more than half of 12-year-olds of Asian background now need glasses for myopia, up from a third in 2005, while short-sightedness among children of caucasian descent doubled from 4.4 per cent to 8.6 per cent over the same period, coinciding with rising usage of smartphones, tablets and laptops in the home and at school.
It is scary stuff, but the solution is simple.
